Minister of Culture applauds the female skills and cultural heritage of Dora Murals event-Burkina Faso

The closing session of the event was marked by a special celebration, which was attended by Dr Foniyama Élise Iboudo – Thiombiano, Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism, as the guest of honor. The competition, which is aimed at preserving their cultural heritage, is open to young girls from schools throughout the region.

Its contribution to the recognition and perpetuation of the Kassena people’s culture is invaluable. “On the occasion of the ceremony commemorating the end of the “Dora” Competition, Foniyama Élise Iboudo – Thiombiano ,the madam minister, greeted the partners and people of good will who worked tirelessly to make this activity a reality.

She praised the involvement of women who shared their science and experience with the youngsters, hoping that the knowledge transfer would continue through this competition so that the learners could improve their painting techniques.

She also expressed hope that the training’s participants will be able to pass on their knowledge to future generations, preserving this aspect of rich Burkinabé cultural heritage.

Dr. Iboudo – Thiombiano also advocated for the creation of initiatives aimed at ensuring women’s and girls’ financial and social empowerment.

Finally, she stated that efforts are being made to register the Royal Court of Tiébélé, as well as its architecture, as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As a result, she requested the continued commitment of all local and international partners in order for the project to succeed.”
